According to a recent BBC Report burning tyres can release over 100 different chemicals into the air and it's in breach of the Clean Air Order. Despite this, some residents local to me are in the process of building a bonfire not a mile from my house in which they plan to burn, at a guess, a good few hundred tyres in one night's work.
I'm lucky that I'm a mile away from this fire. Some houses can't be more than 50 metres from the centre of it. I wonder how their owners feel when the frontage of their home gets covered in black smoke.
